Desyrel or trazodone hydrochloride does provide instant relief. It could take up to four weeks before results are felt, although a majority of the patients who use already notice significant improvement within two weeks of taking it.

Desyrel should not be taken if you have an allergy or are sensitive to Desyrel. Make sure to inform your doctor if you have ever had any drug allergies in the past or if you are currently taking any drugs and medication.

If you are planning to become pregnant, are already pregnant or are breastfeeding, then make sure that you tell your doctor before you take Desyrel.

Dosage and Administration of Desyrel

Desyrel or trazodone hydrochloride should be taken right after a light snack or a meal. If you take it before eating, you might feel light-headed or dizzy.

You may notice that your mouth dries up after taking Desyrel. You may want to suck on a piece of hard candy, a chewing or some ice chips to relieve this problem.

If you miss a dose, just take it once you remember but if it is within four hours of the next dose, then just skip the missed one and just go back o your regular schedule. Ou should never take two doses at one time.

If you believe that you overdosed on Desyrel and you feel overdose symptoms such as breathing failure, irregular heartbeat, drowsiness or seizures, then seek emergency medical attention right away.

Some of the possible side effects of Desyrel or trazodone hydrochloride would include abdominal or stomach disorder, anger or hostility, muscle or bones aches and pains, temporary loss of consciousness, blurred vision, confusion, constipation, diarrhea, decreased appetite, dizziness or light-headedness, dry mouth, drowsiness, excitement, fast heartbeat, fainting, fatigue, swelling or fluid retention, headache, difficulty sleeping, low blood pressure, nausea, nasal or sinus congestion, nervousness, tremors, uncoordinated movements, weight gain or loss and vomiting.
